An 18th century garden is set in a hidden valley in the Cotswolds. Dating from the brief Rococo period which was known for its flamboyancy and frivolity, the garden incorporates formal vistas with informal walks. Charming contemporary structures, newly restored, nestle on the sides of the valley. It is best known for its wonderful naturalised display of snowdrops and the newly planted anniversary maze. Wonderful beech woods and other fine trees shelter many wild flowers. There is much restoration still in progress.
The garden was laid out by Benjamin Hyett in the 1740's. The original layout was captured by local artist Thomas Rubins in 1748.
