Description of Garden

Set in an estate of 1,000 acres, just one and a half miles from the sea, are 50 acres of cultivated gardens kept as a wild garden. There is a collection of broad leaved trees and conifers, but the pride of the gardens are the extensive collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and camellias. There are stunning views of the coast and countryside from the viewing towers and many delightful waymarked walks, including a route to the North Norfolk Railway Station (a private full-gauge steam railway).

History Of Garden

Planting began from 1850's onwards. This garden is particularly famous as one of Humphry Repton's greatest achievements. E. H. Wilson added a collection of plants from China in the early 1900's.
