Description of Garden

The present layout of the garden is by Peter Coates, who was a personal friend of Mrs. Nancy Sheffield and has been developed from 1963 onwards. It includes a canal pond, a laburnum walk and a pond garden. Interestingly, this was the original village green and duck pond before the 18th century Enclosure Act. There is also an 18th century ice house which is a listed building.

History Of Garden

The original layout of the park dates from 1720/1740 by Adam Meikle in the style of 'Capability Brown'.
